This body of work is the integration of a deep dive undertaken within a 2022 residency with Apurva Kulkarnir of Altamirraonline.com held both online and in Goa India. The images were also exhibited at the Future Conditional Exhibition held in London in Mach 2023.
The images portray the alchemical process of the residency. An aspect of the exploration involved the creation and burning of a sculpture. The sculpture embodied aspects of self deemed unacceptable. It is an expression of the rejected, suppressed and banished elements, entangling themselves with unconditioned awareness. The final mandala is created from the ashes of the sculpture.
The work includes photographs on vellum, a video of the burning sculpture and the remains of the burnt sculpture. This body of work is part of an ongoing exploration of the nature of self.
